FAQs: Before Your Visit

  1. How many Students are required for a School Group booking? What are prices? Do Homeschool qualify?

Field trip bookings require a minimum of 10 guests total. Students are $8 each and the required 1:7 ratio of Teacher Chaperones to Students are free for general admission. Additional add-ons such as films, science demonstrations, or special exhibits are an additional cost to both students and chaperones.

Homeschools do qualify as a school group and may submit their request form here.

  2. When does the field trip request need to be submitted?

Request forms must be submitted at least 30 days in advance of your desired visit date to be considered for a reservation.

  3. What does general admission include?

The general admission ticket includes access to all permanent Museum exhibits.

General admission does not include any films and/or add-on special exhibitions.

  4. What is the admission fee for chaperones?

All teachers, teacher assistants and educators are given first priority of free general admission chaperone tickets. Any leftovers may be allocated as your group sees fit. Add-on experiences such as a film or traveling exhibition are an additional cost to all chaperones.

    Please note:

    • Any extra adult chaperones and students not included on your reservation will be required to pay full general admission prices the day of your visit ($25 for guests 13 and up, $15 for guests 2-12 years old) as well as full-price for any additional add-on experiences.
    • Extra student and extra adult chaperone tickets are subject to availability.
  5. Do memberships or other discounts opportunities apply to field trip admission?

Groups with families that have memberships cannot apply their member discount to a school group reservation. Students under a membership must be included on their school’s reservation and pay the school group admission rate.

Chaperones using their membership the day of a school group visit will not be considered a ‘Chaperone’ and will not receive a chaperone sticker.

Additionally, the Museum’s free general admission for educators discount is not redeemable for chaperones on the day of your field trip visit.

  6. Can siblings join the school group reservation?

Siblings not part of the reserved school group will not be included on the reservation or receive discounted admission. Full price tickets can be purchased separately.

  7. Special Needs/Accessibility

Please let the Museum know if you are bringing children with special needs. Any groups requiring a 1:1 accommodation will receive additional General Admission tickets for the support staff at no charge. Fees will still apply for traveling exhibits and 3D films. Further visit accommodations can be found on our website here.

  8. Are there escalators and elevators available for our visit?

Our Sales team asks that all school groups please take either the stairs or our escalator to Level 4 to the Expanding Universe Hall  and T. Boone Pickens Life Then and Now Hall. Our team also suggests accessing all stairs to go up and down the Museum floors. Please be considerate of guests who need the escalators or elevators. Elevators are given first priority to all guests in wheelchairs or with strollers. Please note: a teacher chaperone must be present when entering the escalator and under no circumstances should guests run up, down, or sit when on the escalators.
