Field Trips at the Perot Museum

Every visit to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is an opportunity to spark curiosity, inspire discovery, and connect classroom learning with real-world exploration. We look forward to welcoming you and your students to the Museum this fall!

 

Request forms must be submitted at least 30 days in advance of your desired visit date to be considered for a reservation.

Note: Beginning in January 2027, the number of field trip reservations available per day will be reduced. We encourage schools with flexible schedules to book a Fall 2026 visit for the greatest selection of available dates.

Availability

  • Field trips are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays throughout the school year.
  • Tuesday field trips are offered on a limited basis: November-December 2026, April-May 2027.
  • Field trips are not scheduled during: Federal Holidays, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, or Spring Break

Fall dates fill quickly. We encourage schools to submit their request early for the best selection of visit dates, educational films, and Soccer: More Than a Game availability.

Financial Aid
Through generous support from our philanthropic community, the Museum provides financial aid to Title I schools, as defined by the Texas Education Agency. Approved awards help cover admission to permanent exhibit halls and Soccer: More Than a Game for students and required chaperones. Films are not included. Financial Aid for School Year 2026-2027 will be awarded using the guidelines below:

  • Each campus must apply for financial aid at the time of booking
  • Financial aid distribution requires a campus to qualify for Title 1 status and will correspond to the percentage of campus students eligible for free or reduced lunch if 40% or more
  • The campus is responsible for any remaining amount due as outlined in the confirmation materials

Title I schools may apply for funding to visit the Museum on a Field Trip from August 17- December 18, 2026. If approved, a financial aid award will cover the designated % of general exhibit and traveling exhibition entrance for students and required chaperones. Films are not included. Financial aid will not cover additional adults on the reservation.

Pricing
General admission includes all permanent exhibit halls. The Moody Family Children’s Museum is not available for group booking and visitation.

This immersive exhibition explores the science, technology, engineering, and careers behind soccer through interactive challenges that encourage students to move, experiment, problem-solve, and discover.

    Penguin Island
    Runtime: 20 minutes

    Journey to a remote island to witness the remarkable life cycle of king penguins. As one determined penguin searches for a mate, protects an egg, and raises a chick, students will explore animal adaptations, ecosystems, and the challenges wildlife face in one of Earth’s most extreme environments.

    T. Rex
    Runtime: 24 minutes

    Discover how scientists uncover the story of one of history’s most iconic predators. Featuring a remarkable fossil discovery from Hell Creek, this immersive film explores paleontology, the scientific process, and how new evidence continues to shape our understanding of Tyrannosaurus rex.

    Penguins: A Love Story
    Runtime: 25 minutes

    Travel from the beaches of South Africa to the shores of Australia as two penguin species navigate life in a changing world. Along the way, students will discover animal behavior, conservation efforts, and how scientists and communities work together to protect wildlife.

    Dream Big: Engineering Our World
    Runtime: 42 minutes

    Inspire the next generation of innovators through the incredible world of engineering. From towering skyscrapers and underwater robots to sustainable cities and solar-powered vehicles, students will discover how engineers use creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving to improve our world.

Know Before You Go

  1. Checklist
    • Please fill out a field trip request form at least 30 days in advance of your desired visit date to be considered for a reservation.
    • Full payment is due 30 days before your visit.
    • Please review Museum Expectations ahead of your vist.
    • Box lunches: Make planning even easier by preordering boxed lunches for students and adults through the Museum Café, prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering. Orders must be placed at least 3 business days before your visit. Learn more and preorder here.
  2. Before Your Visit

    To help your visit go smoothly, please remember to:

    • Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled entry time.
    • Share the updated arrival and parking instructions with your bus driver(s).
    • Bring a copy of your reservation confirmation.
    • If you’ve preordered box lunches, confirm your delivery details before arrival.
  3. Bus Arrival & Parking

    We look forward to welcoming your students! Please note that bus arrival, pick-up, and parking procedures have been updated as of April 27, 2026. School buses should:

    • Enter the Museum via River Street.
    • Use Lot A for student drop-off and pick-up.
    • Exit the Museum via Broom Street.

    Bus parking is not available at the Museum. If parking is needed after drop-off, buses may park at 1100 McKinney Avenue. A discounted parking rate is available for Perot Museum school groups through LAZ Parking.

    Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Purchasing bus parking in advance will expedite the parking process; however, a reservation does not guarantee a parking space. You are welcome to arrange alternative parking if preferred.

    All other vehicles, including those of chaperones, can park under Woodall Rodgers Freeway. Parking is $15 and can be purchased by scanning the QR code located in the parking lot or upon exiting the lot (credit card payments only). Cash payment can be made at the Box Office.   4. Day of Your Visit

    Check in

    • Group Lead — Please know the number of students and teachers/chaperones present in your group. Do not include any extra chaperones/adults who will be paying separately. This information will be required in order to complete your check in and begin your visit.
    • Our check-in staff will get your group checked as you unload off of the bus or at the red tent on the Plaza.
    • Extra children and/or adults not included on your reservation should purchase regular price tickets at the Box Office. All tickets are subject to availability.
    • Once checked in, the Museum is self-guided for you to enjoy at your own pace. As a reminder, students must be accompanied by a chaperone at all times. One chaperone is required for every 7 students. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask a team member.
    • If you’re scheduled for timed activities, please assemble at the program, theater, or exhibit check-in area at least 10 minutes before your activity begins. There is no late seating, nor are refunds issued for missed programs, films, or exhibits. If scheduled for multiple timed activities, we suggest preparing the first group as soon as possible to ensure groups arrive promptly.
  5. FAQs
    • How do I make a reservation? Please submit a field trip request or email our Reservation team for additional assistance.
    • Can we reschedule our visit date or program schedule? All schedule and attendance changes must be made no later than three weeks before your visit. If you need to reschedule or cancel your reservation, you must contact the Reservations Department at reserve@perotmuseum.org at least three weeks before your scheduled visit in order for your payment to be applied to a new visit date.
    • Can we get a refund for fewer students than originally planned? No, we do not issue refunds.
    • Will someone be meeting us and guiding us through the Museum? The Museum is self-guided for you to enjoy at your own pace. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask a team member.
    • Where will our group have lunch? All lunches must stay on the buses until you’re ready to eat. Groups will eat outside on the Plaza and green space at the entrance of the Museum. We suggest staggering lunch times to ensure there is plenty of room for students to sit. In case of inclement weather, we will inform you of an alternate plan when you arrive.
    • Are backpacks allowed? Yes, however we recommend students leave backpacks on the bus.
    • My students are in high school, do they need to stay with their chaperones YES! One adult chaperone, 21 years or older, is required for every 7 students.
