Age

Keep the mess out of your house and head over to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science with your little one to explore the world around us!

Bring your child for some hands-on fun that helps their brain development soar! Each week’s activities will focus on a different theme, which you and your child will get to explore in many different ways. You will create an artistic project, take part in reading time, and dance, sing, rhyme, or play a game that reinforces the theme. There will also be sensory and activity stations set up to help your child experience the week’s concept in new and exciting ways. We’ll even take a visit to one of our exhibit halls or have a live science demonstration to find out how the week’s theme relates to science.

Please use the links in the upper right to see the dates for each package and to register!

Winter Classes

Wonders of Winter

What makes winter so wonderful? Come and explore the different sights, sounds, and smells that winter brings, and how extremely cold temperatures affect different objects and the world around us.

Into the Woods

Do you enjoy camping or going for a nice long hike? Let’s venture into the woods and examine life in the forest. Using all our senses, we will learn more about our Texas ecosystem and some of the fascinating creatures that live around us!

Physics Circus

Step right up and join us for the Perot Museum’s version of a three-ring circus! Our ringleader will guide your little ones through ways that force, motion, and energy are involved in each physics feat.

Space Explorers

Let your imagination blast off into the solar system and beyond. If you were space explorer, where would you go and what do you think you would find? Learn what it takes to be an astronaut. Discover what we have in common with stars. Contemplate what life would be like on another planet.

Seasons

Winter, spring, summer, fall – do you have a favorite? Come and explore the beauty and wonder that each has to offer. Talk about the changes that take place in nature with each season and how animals and people prepare for them.

Me, Myself, and I

This session will be all about your favorite subject – YOU! Learn about what makes you unique and what make us all the same. Distinguish between feelings and emotions. From your head to your toes, to the inside and out, what makes you special is what this session is all about.

Rhythm and Rhyme

One, two, three — you will see just how much fun music and movement can be. Wiggle, jiggle, bounce, and jump. Shake your head, hands, fingers, and even your rump. Come join us as we follow the beat. You’re sure to have a merry good time, even if you’re tone deaf and have two left feet.

Dazzling Dinosaurs

They may have gone extinct long ago, but they never go out of style. Friendly or fierce, gigantic or small – which is your most favorite of all? We’ll explore the Life: Then & Now Hall to look at fossils, footprints, and other clues they left behind. You’ll be amazed at what we’ll find.

Spring Classes

Shake, Rattle, and Roll

Up and down, left and right, in and out. Can you shake it? What will make it rattle? How can it roll? Let's investigate. Let's explore. We can try it on the table, on the wall or on the floor. Use your imagination and have lots of fun. Perhaps you'll find something that does all three. You'll be surprised at what that could be.

Texas Tails

Oh give me a home, where the armadillo roam and the deer and the jack rabbits play. Where coyotes yelp and mockingbirds sing, and the yellow jackets can give quite a sting. What do all these creatures have in common? They are all native to Texas and they all have tails! Two-step your way into this session and you will learn about their habits and habitats.

Animal Crackers

Animals are amazing — from furry feats to fantastic fins! Did you know some have a heart in their head and others look like fish but are mammals instead? We humans have learned so much from the incredible things animals do. After this session, you'll be quite impressed, and one smart cookie too.

Our Earth

Round and round it goes, rotating, revolving. Blue and green sphere laced with sandy beaches and sea foam. This isn't just any planet; this is our home. Come learn all about it and why we should take better care. You will realize that it would be hard to find another one just like it out there.

Caterpillars and Butterflies

You will be all aflutter when you spend a day in the life of a butterfly. Learn all about their life cycle, where they go and what they do. You will be surprised at the effect they have on you!

Spring Flowers

Are all flowers plants? Do all plants bloom? Do they all come from seeds? Do they all have perfume? Learn the answer to these questions and so much more as you tip toe through the tulips and stop and smell the roses. You will leave this session with spring in your steps.

Ponds and Rivers

You'll have a splash as you learn what makes ponds and rivers different, and what makes them the same. Reflect on why they are important to us. Get wet and wild as you learn about the variety of life found in each.

Patterns and Numbers

Two, four, six, eight. Hurry, hurry — don't be late! Look and listen. Clap your hands and stomp your feet. Mix and match as you learn to repeat. You will learn the power of patterns and how numbers are added into our everyday life.
