Homeschool Family Science Days

No cape needed for this superhero training! Activities will be set up throughout the museum to explore the science behind super powers such as super strength, invisibility, and x-ray vision. Be sure to visit every station to become a science superhero!
Super Strength – See if you can defeat tests of strength that rely on the concept of air pressure and the force of friction.
Super Size – Experiment with a vacuum chamber to make objects grow or shrink.
Levitation – Make objects float using the power of magnetism.
Invisibility – Learn about types of light invisible to the human eye and make a bracelet that changes color when exposed to UV light.
X-Ray Vision – Examine a collection of animal x-rays to discover hidden secrets about their bodies.
Electricity – Experiment with circuit sticks and different materials to determine which are conductors and which are insulators.
Super Silk – Explore the future of spider silk, discover the life cycle of silkworms, and observe real silkworm fibers.
Water Power – Discover how superheroes stay dry under water by exploring special hydrophobic materials.
Weather Power – Create your own weather phenomena and explore tools scientists use to measure weather information.
This event will take place from 10am-1pm throughout the Museum. Admission to Home School Family Science Days gives you access to the Museum’s Permanent Exhibit Halls
