Exhibit Hall Volunteer

Our Exhibit Halls offer a wide range of opportunities for volunteers. Areas of interest include Gems and Minerals, Engineering, The Human Body, Sports, Birds, Oil and Gas, Ancient Life on Earth, Living Ecosystems, and more! Share your knowledge with visitors at an activity station, by providing demonstrations or serving as an information guide. After completion of 50 hours of volunteering in an individual exhibit hall, you may advance to docent status. Exhibit Hall Volunteers are needed during all Museum operating hours.

Guest Services Volunteer

Guest Services volunteers are the first point of contact for guests entering the Museum. Guide guests through the lobby, exhibit halls and other areas of the Museum, inform guests about the Museum including daily offerings, upcoming events, pricing, parking, membership options and hours of operation, or provide information about other sites of interest in the Arts District and the downtown area. Guest Services volunteers are patient, friendly, outgoing, proactive and well-informed about the layout of the Museum and other pertinent information. Guest Services volunteers are needed during all Museum operating hours.

Paleo Lab/Collections Volunteer

(Fair Park Campus Only)

Work with fossils and recent finds in our Paleo Lab or assist in our extensive Collections Department. Volunteers must participate in an interview with the Fossil Preparator or the Collections Manager along with completing general orientation. THESE POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE WEEKDAYS ONLY.  There are currently no volunteer opportunities in the Paleo/Collections Department. Please continue to check back.

Education Volunteer

Education volunteers will assist our Programs Department with field trip groups and other informal educational activities. Education volunteers may assist during regular Museum hours as well as for special program events that could occur outside of regular Museum hours. Check back later for more opportunities within Education.

Administrative Volunteer

Do you enjoy being behind the scenes and assisting with day to day operations? Administrative volunteers may file, compile lists, work with spread sheets, assist with large mailings or answer telephones.

About Our Requirements

In order to provide the best possible experience for our volunteers as well as our guests, we strongly recommend that all volunteers commit to coming for eight hours per month. However, we occasionally have activities available for those individuals who are interested in sharing their talents but are unable to commit to that requirement. Some of the opportunities may include Discovery Days, FIRST LEGO® League, Social Science, exhibit openings, etc. We accept individuals under these circumstances on a case by case basis.

If you are interested in learning more about these opportunities, please contact volunteers@perotmuseum.org and put “Special Event Inquiry” in the Subject Line.
