The Campaign for Excellence is comprised of 7 distinct funds to ensure the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is the world-class, mind-blowing, brain-amazing museum the people of North Texas deserve. Join us as we continue to strive towards excellence by making a gift today!
Traveling/Temporary Exhibits Fund
$7 Million Goal
Museums often need to commit to hosting traveling exhibits two or more years in advance. Reserving these shows usually requires a hefty down payment or up-front financial commitment. Securing premier traveling exhibits is also a highly competitive process. Quick access to funds will give the Museum an advantage when competing with other museums for top exhibits both nationally and internationally. The Exhibits Fund may also be used by the Perot Museum to create and build its own special temporary exhibits.
Operating Excellence Fund
$5 Million Goal
The Perot Museum currently has a “rainy day fund” of just under $3 million with plans to increase this reserve to $8 million, the equivalent of six months of operating expenses for the Museum.
$2 Million Goal
Modeled after a very successful program at the Science Museum of Minnesota, this fund will be a revolving investment capital fund to be used for the seeding and planning of major program initiatives that align with the Museum’s mission and strategic plans.
$3 Million Goal
This fund will allow the Museum to continuously improve the technologies that drive our exhibits, educational programs and visitor experiences. Ongoing hardware and software upgrades, as well as strategic technology management supported by this fund, ensure that the Perot Museum will be able to bring new exhibits and educational programs that utilize cutting-edge technologies each year.
Access and Scholarship Fund
$5 Million Goal
The Museum currently raises approximately $300,000 per year through its annual fundraising efforts to enable students to attend in-museum and outreach programs at a reduced cost. The need for funds to expand this effort is growing each year - even more so with the recent budget cuts to school districts. Demand for Museum programs has dramatically increased with the opening of the new Perot Museum. This fund will enable the Museum to expand the number and amount of scholarships, and may also be used to make the Museum more accessible to the general public, including specific constituent groups.
Research and Collections Fund
$2 Million Goal
Providing excellent scientific programs to increase public engagement in the science requires the ability to continue to both fund internal research and explorations, as well as the ability to acquire specimens.
