A creative collision of art and science
Early Childhood Programs are sponsored by
Children are born naturalists who are constantly exploring the world around them! This semester, your junior naturalist will learn helpful strategies for observing plants and animals more closely while enhancing creativity. Together, you’ll discover how shapes and lines seen in nature can inspire your child to draw them in a naturalist's journal or cast them as animal tracks. You’ll also explore the small world of insects and see what secrets a rock or tree can reveal; conduct simple nature experiments; and be inspired by creative naturalists such as John James Audubon, Beatrix Potter and Georgia O’Keefe. Kids will also create impressive take-home projects designed to help them develop their skills in printmaking, drawing, painting and sculpture to reflect on the rich diversity and wonder of the natural world.
Registration for Summer programs opens for all membership levels March 28. Registration for Summer programs opens to the public April 25.
