There’s even more to discover at the Perot Museum than you may realize! Guided by early childhood educators, you’ll discover how object-based learning, modeled on the Smithsonian’s Learning Through Objects approach, can help you and your child better explore the Museum. After completing a thorough exploration of a gallery with supporting activities, your child will earn a special commemorative badge for each of four galleries. In future Gallery Explorer classes, children could eventually earn badges for all 11 of the Museum’s amazing galleries, making them junior museum experts! Class meets once per week on Thursdays, 9-10:30am for eight consecutive weeks.
This summer, your little ones will learn and explore in four of the Museum's exhibit halls:
Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones Exhibition Hall: The fascinating exhibition, The World’s Largest Dinosaurs, reveals amazing insights into the largest dinosaurs ever to walk the Earth. We’ll explore the life and times of one of Earth greatest success stories – the long-necked and long-tailed sauropods.
Expanding Universe Hall: As we journey through our solar system and beyond in the Expanding Universe Hall, we’ll remix the rainbow by combining the three basic colors of light to create different colors.
Being Human Hall: Being human is a different experience for everyone. In the Being Human Hall, we’ll learn about the inner and outer mechanism of the body; how they work, why the work and what that means for you. We’ll also cover the five senses: touch, sight, taste, smell and hearing.
Discovering Life Hall: We’ll take an indoor nature walk to learn all about the native creatures and plant life of three diverse Texas ecosystems – the Piney Woodlands, Blackland Prairie and West Texas Desert. Through the interactive dioramas in the Discovering Life Hall, we’ll explore all around Texas.
