Age

Keep the mess out of your house and head over to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science with your little one to explore the world around us!

Bring your child for some hands-on fun that helps their brain development soar! Each week’s activities will focus on a different theme, which you and your child will get to explore in many different ways. You will create an artistic project, take part in reading time, and dance, sing, rhyme, or play a game that reinforces the theme. There will also be sensory and activity stations set up to help your child experience the week’s concept in new and exciting ways. We’ll even take a visit to one of our exhibit halls or have a live science demonstration to find out how the week’s theme relates to science.

Please use the links in the upper right to see the dates for each package and to register!

Little Leonardos

Age 3–5 years   Time 10–11am

Please note that each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Ocean Adventures

Even though the surface of Earth is approximately 70 percent water and the oceans hold about 96 percent of Earth’s water, we have only explored about five percent of our oceans. Sail along with us on an adventure to examine what lives in the ocean, compare ocean water to fresh water, and reflect upon ways we can protect our oceans.

Do Bugs Bug You?

They’re creepy, crawly critters, but don’t crush them! These creatures may be tiny and small, but they are capable of some amazing accomplishments. Come take a closer look to unearth their fascinating feats, and you will find that entomology can be quite entertaining.

Reptile Round-Up

These scaly creatures have been around for about 320 million years and can live in many different environments, like swamps, forests, rivers, and deserts. The sight of them makes us both fearful and fascinated. Slide into their world and see how cool these cold-blooded creatures can be. Distinguish between turtles and tortoises, crocodiles and alligators. Understand what it means to be poisonous and venomous.

Cool Chemistry

Come learn what’s the matter with chemistry and how we don’t just use it periodically. It’s all around us — in everything we can see, touch, feel, smell, or taste. Mix it up as you conduct your own experiments, observe reactions and examine changes. Bubble, foam, fizz! You are sure to have a blast!

Feathered Friends

Birds of a feather flock together. Some love to shake their tail feathers, others can fly upside down and even backwards, and others don’t fly at all! Discover why calling someone a “bird brain” could be a compliment. You will have a soaring good time!

Autumn Nation

Turn over a new leaf and get ready for a change in season. Celebrate the sights, sounds, and smells that fall brings. Explore the changes in nature. Rake in the happiness that harvest time brings. Share your favorite autumn memory or activity or create new ones.

Wonders of Winter

What makes winter so wonderful? Come and explore the different sights, sounds, and smells that winter brings, and how extremely cold temperatures affect different objects and the world around us.

Into the Woods

Do you enjoy camping or going for a nice long hike? Let’s venture into the woods and examine life in the forest. Using all our senses, we will learn more about our Texas ecosystem and some of the fascinating creatures that live around us!

Physics Circus

Step right up and join us for the Perot Museum’s version of a three-ring circus! Our ringleader will guide your little ones through ways that force, motion, and energy are involved in each physics feat.

Space Explorers

Let your imagination blast off into the solar system and beyond. If you were space explorer, where would you go and what do you think you would find? Learn what it takes to be an astronaut. Discover what we have in common with stars. Contemplate what life would be like on another planet.

Seasons

Winter, spring, summer, fall – do you have a favorite? Come and explore the beauty and wonder that each has to offer. Talk about the changes that take place in nature with each season and how animals and people prepare for them.

Me, Myself, and I

This session will be all about your favorite subject – YOU! Learn about what makes you unique and what make us all the same. Distinguish between feelings and emotions. From your head to your toes, to the inside and out, what makes you special is what this session is all about.

Rhythm and Rhyme

One, two, three — you will see just how much fun music and movement can be. Wiggle, jiggle, bounce, and jump. Shake your head, hands, fingers, and even your rump. Come join us as we follow the beat. You’re sure to have a merry good time, even if you’re tone deaf and have two left feet.

Dazzling Dinosaurs

They may have gone extinct long ago, but they never go out of style. Friendly or fierce, gigantic or small – which is your most favorite of all? We’ll explore the Life: Then & Now Hall to look at fossils, footprints, and other clues they left behind. You’ll be amazed at what we’ll find.
