Sorry it has been so long since my last post! How about a couple real-time updates and then I will attempt a recap of the week which I hope will provide context, explain my lack of posts and sum up everything that has been going on! But first, one of the items that has taken my attention is our visit by Katrina Gutierrez, the photojournalist from WFAA! Speaking of whirlwind, she was in Alaska for a short visit – less than 4 days! She came all this way to join the team and see firsthand what goes into field work. And, that she did! She accompanied us on two day-hikes and from that, has produced some great work and given the Perot Museum In The Field program some wonderful exposure! If you haven’t seen the clips or postings, please check them out here:
Welcome To The Perot Museum In The Field 2014 Blog!
My name is Beth Hook. I am the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, and I am thrilled to be back for year two of Perot Museum in the Field – another exciting excursion into Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
To those of you joining us for year two, welcome! We are so glad to have you back! To those of you joining us for the first time, welcome to you as well! We are so glad to have you on board. If you want to get caught up, please feel free to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page (please be patient as you may have to wait for it to refresh) and start from the very first post on July 18, 2013. Or, if you want to jump right in for 2014 you can start with the first post from this year, July 13, 2014. Either way, the most recent post will always be at the top of the page.
The expedition is again led by Perot Museum curator of Earth Sciences and paleontologist, Dr. Anthony Fiorillo, known as Tony. Joining him again are Yoshi (Yoshitsugu) Kobayashi, associate professor at the Hokkaido University Museum and Paul McCarthy, sedimentologist with the department of geology and geophysics in the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
I will again be narrator and film crew, as well as a field team participant. (There are no free rides in this group!)
