Well-Preserved Mammoth Skeleton Unearthed in North Texas is Donated to Perot Museum of Nature and Science
An incredibly pristine and rare, nearly complete mammoth skeleton has been generously donated to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. The excavation and transport of the specimen – believed to be 20,000 to 60,000 years old – will take place over the next few weeks. Thanks to the generosity of the Wayne McEwen family, along with the leadership and support of Navarro College, the Mammuthus columbi specimen found in Ellis County has been donated to the Perot Museum. Once catalogued into the Museum’s collections, the remarkable fossil will be preserved for scientific research and study for years to come. Click the news links above for more.

Another Dino Discovery!
Dr. Tony Fiorillo, curator of Earth Sciences at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, and his team are back in Alaska’s Denali National Park this summer exploring the dinosaur tracksite they recently discovered there. The tracksite contained the footprints (and even skin and nail impressions) of thousands of hadrosaurs - or duck-billed dinosaurs - as well as tracks from various other dinosaurs, providing new insight into the lives of these fascinating animals.
