Wayfinding Volunteers

Position Summary
Wayfinding Volunteers are placed in strategic positions throughout the Museum in order to assist our guests in finding their way through the various exhibit halls, Children’s Museum and other areas of the building.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests in a friendly, inviting and professional manner
- Anticipate any bottlenecks and be proactive in managing
- Provide information about all stairways, restrooms, elevators
- Be knowledgeable about Museum offerings: Membership, Theater, Café, Museum Shop
- Contact appropriate management member with any issues or concerns
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Dedication to providing our guests adequate information in order to navigate the building
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally
Training Required
- Orientation: 4 hours
- Orientations held monthly
- Sign up for orientation of choice at initial interview

Assignment Schedule
The usual shift schedules are listed below:
NOTE: Shift times may occasionally change due to special events
- Monday-Saturday: 9:30am-1:30pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm
- Sunday: 9:30am-1:30pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm
- First Thursday of each month: 4:30pm-9:00pm
Time Commitment
Two shifts per month (8 hours) for a period of one year.
